Another Close Call - 28 May 1944

Damage from flak on B-17 #42-97329 Flak Hack 360BS. (Pilot Edgar C. Miller, CoPilot Paul R. Ellsworth). L-329 was the lead aircraft in the high squadron. It was hit by an 88mm shell while in a sharp turn. The flak came in the bottom of the plane and just missed the solid metal base of the top turret. Col Lew Lyle is shown sticking his head out of the aircraft.
